Copy stat ## Summary A business owner hires a freelancer to build a WordPress site and gets back a login, a set of pages and a plugin called Elementor. From then on, every edit to a headline, a photo or a button happens inside Elementor's drag-and-drop editor, not in WordPress itself. That setup is now the most common way a WordPress homepage gets built. WordPress ships with its own editor, the Block Editor, also known as Gutenberg. A page builder is a plugin that replaces it with a visual editor. The choice shapes how fast the site loads, how easy it is to edit, and how much work it takes to change later: a site built with a page builder plugin is tied to it, and switching means rebuilding the pages. Elementor dominates that choice. It runs on **34%** of WordPress homepages, more than twice the 16% built with the Block Editor, and on more homepages than the Block Editor, WPBakery and Divi combined. Measured across the whole web, a single WordPress plugin now builds more homepages than Wix, Squarespace and Webflow put together. ## What we measured We used the public HTTP Archive crawl from September 2026, which records the technology behind 15.5 million website homepages. Of those, 4,945,342 homepages run on WordPress. We counted which of 12 page builders each WordPress homepage uses and divided by the WordPress total, so each share is a share of WordPress sites. A site can use more than one builder, so the shares do not add up to 100%. A page builder is a plugin that lets you design pages by dragging and dropping blocks instead of writing code. The Block Editor is the editor built into WordPress, and the Site Editor is its extension for designing whole-site templates. Elementor, WPBakery, Divi, Beaver Builder, Bricks, Oxygen and Breakdance are third-party builders, some free and some paid. ## Elementor builds a third of WordPress homepages 34% of WordPress homepages are built with Elementor. That is 1,681,162 homepages, and a lead no other builder comes close to. WordPress's own Block Editor is second at 16%, less than half Elementor's share. The next two are WPBakery at 8.3% and Divi at 6.4%. Put the Block Editor, WPBakery and Divi together and they cover 30.7% of WordPress homepages, still less than Elementor on its own. For anyone building a site for a client, that makes it the path of least resistance. WPBakery and Divi are two of the oldest builders on the list, and their combined 14.7% share is a large installed base. Both were often bundled with premium themes sold on theme marketplaces, so many of the sites that use them were built years ago and have kept the builder they launched with. ## WordPress's own editors trail behind The Block Editor and the Site Editor are the tools WordPress itself develops, and together they account for 18% of WordPress homepages: 16% for the Block Editor and 2% for the Site Editor. That is about half of Elementor's share, even though they come free with every WordPress install and need no extra plugin. The native editor is where WordPress's own development is focused, so its share is the one to watch in future years. ## One plugin outbuilds the best-known website builders Measured against the whole web, Elementor's reach is just as striking. It appears on 10.9% of all 15.5 million homepages in the HTTP Archive crawl, about one website in nine. Its 1,681,162 homepages outnumber the 771,649 run by Wix, Squarespace and Webflow combined, the three hosted website builders most people name first, by more than two to one. Hosted builders sell the whole package: design tools, hosting and support in one subscription. Elementor reaches more sites by riding on WordPress, which is free and runs on almost any web host. For a business comparing options, a WordPress site built with Elementor is a more common setup than a site on Wix, Squarespace and Webflow combined. ## Newer builders are still a niche Bricks, Oxygen and Breakdance are newer, lightweight builders popular with developers who care about page speed and clean code. Together they run on about 1% of WordPress homepages: Oxygen and Bricks at 0.4% each and Breakdance at 0.2%. Beaver Builder, at 1.2%, and SiteOrigin, at 0.7%, sit just above them. These builders have loyal users, but their combined share is a small fraction of Elementor's. A business that picks one of them gets a leaner site, and a smaller pool of freelancers and agencies who already know the tool. ## What this means for WordPress site owners Find out which builder your site uses: log in to WordPress and look at the editor that opens when you edit a page, or check the Plugins list. If it is Elementor, you are in the largest community of any WordPress builder, and help is easy to find. Keep the plugin and its add-ons updated, avoid stacking several add-on packs, and check page weight on mobile, since each add-on adds code to every page. If you are on WPBakery or an older Divi theme, check that it is still receiving updates and review it at your next redesign. For a new build, weigh the Block Editor alongside Elementor: it adds no extra plugin and is where WordPress itself is heading, while Elementor offers the widest pool of people who can edit the site after launch. Whichever you choose, the builder decides how easy the site will be to change in three years, so choose it on purpose rather than by default.
