Copy stat ## Summary A new business owner watches an ad promising a professional website in an afternoon, no code required, and signs up. Millions have done the same, and the no-code website builder has become the default picture of how a small business gets online. The data tells a quieter story. No-code builders are platforms where you design and run a website by dragging and dropping blocks, with hosting included: Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and Framer are the best known. Whether they are gaining or losing ground matters to anyone choosing a platform, hiring a designer or deciding which skills to build, because a platform's momentum shapes its templates, its add-ons and the pool of people who know it. No-code builders are not taking a growing share of the web. Together they run **5.13%** of website homepages, down from 5.26% a year ago and about where they were two years ago. The market is shifting between tools rather than growing: Framer, a design-first builder, grew by nearly a third while Wix, Squarespace and Webflow each lost websites. ## What we measured We used 24 monthly releases of the HTTP Archive, a public dataset that tests millions of websites every month and records the platform each homepage runs on, from October 2024 to September 2026. For each month we counted the homepages running on Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and Framer. The number of homepages tested changes from month to month, from 14.7 million to 16.4 million, so we compare each builder's share of all homepages tested that month rather than raw counts, and add the four together for a combined no-code share. Year-on-year changes compare September 2025 with September 2026. ## The combined share went up, then came back down 5.13% of website homepages ran on Wix, Squarespace, Webflow or Framer in September 2026. The combined share climbed from 4.84% in January 2025 to a peak of 5.35% in April 2026, then slipped back to 5.15% in July and 5.13% in September. In homepages, the four builders fell from 835,681 in September 2025 to 794,215 in September 2026, a 5% drop. No-code builders hold roughly one website in twenty, and that share has stopped rising. ## Framer grows while the big three shrink 31.7% more websites ran on Framer in September 2026 than a year earlier. Framer went from 17,128 homepages in September 2025 to 22,566 in September 2026, and from 8,862 in October 2024, growth of 154.6% in two years. It is still small, at 0.15% of all homepages, but it is the only one of the four with a clear upward trend. Framer is a design-first builder, so its growth points to designers choosing it for new sites. Squarespace went from 250,286 to 239,175 and Webflow from 114,529 to 110,959. The two largest builders still hold most of the no-code market; they are simply not adding to it. ## What this means for business owners and designers If your site runs on Wix or Squarespace, nothing here says you need to move: these are still large, stable platforms with hundreds of thousands of websites each. The data does show designers trying newer tools, so expect agencies to pitch Framer and AI website builders more often. If you are choosing a builder today, weigh portability. A site you cannot easily export is harder to move if the platform stops fitting your business, and every move risks the search rankings the old site earned.
