# Responsive Web Design Services

Your site should work as well on a phone as it does on a laptop.

Most people who find you are on a phone, in a hurry, half-doing something else. If your site makes them pinch, zoom and mis-tap, they go back and pick someone else. We fix that with responsive web design services: one site that reads and taps cleanly on any screen.

## What Our Responsive Web Design Services Include

Responsive web design services cover the layout work that lets one website rearrange itself to fit any screen, from a small phone to a wide monitor.

(06)

### • Phone layouts designed first

We draw the phone version before the desktop one. The small screen forces a decision about what matters, and that order usually holds everywhere.

### • Layouts that rearrange at the right widths

The widths where a layout rearranges are called breakpoints. We set yours from your own content rather than from a list of handsets, so a new phone size does not break your pages.

### • Buttons and links sized for thumbs

We size tap targets and spacing so people hit what they aim at, not what sits beside it.

### • Menus and forms that work one-handed

The navigation, the search and the enquiry form each get a phone version someone can finish one-handed. That is where a lot of mobile enquiries are lost.

### • Text people can read without zooming

Type sizes, line lengths and contrast are set for a small screen at arm's length, so visitors can read what you sell without pinching and zooming.

### • Checked on real phones and tablets

We test on actual hardware, including an ordinary mid-range Android. A resized desktop window hides the tapping and rendering faults your visitors hit first.

• COMMON PROBLEMS

## Where sites lose people on a phone

Every problem below shows up on a phone and almost never on the designer's desktop. If two or three sound familiar, that is where your mobile enquiries go.

Diagnose my site •

01

### Your desktop site is just squeezed onto a phone

Drawn for a wide screen, then shrunk to fit. The text is too small to read and the buttons sit on top of each other. Getting anywhere means pinching and zooming, and most will not.

02

### Most of your traffic is mobile, most of your leads are not

Your visits are mostly mobile and your enquiries are mostly desktop. When the phone experience is awkward, people leave instead of coming back later.

03

### People mis-tap and give up

Links sit too close together, fields are hard to hit and the menu takes three attempts to open. Each mis-tap is a small annoyance, and the third one closes the tab.

04

### The layout falls apart on tablets and big phones

It looks right on your phone and your laptop, because those are the screens anyone checked. In between, columns collide and images overflow, because the widths were guessed rather than measured.

05

### The mobile version is the one Google ranks

Google looks at the mobile version of your site when it decides where you rank. If the phone experience is thinner or more broken than the desktop one, that is what gets judged.

06

### It feels slow on mobile

Heavy images and scripts slow the page down for visitors on a phone. We load images at the size the screen needs; a site that is slow for deeper reasons needs dedicated speed work (https://www.suffdigital.com/services/website-maintenance/speed-optimization-service).

• Responsive design process

## Our Responsive Web Design Process

(06)

Phase 01

Week 1

### Reading what your visitors actually use

We read your analytics for the real split between phone, tablet and desktop, then walk your site on a handset the way a customer would. That is where the drop-offs are. The week markers on these stages are an estimate of how a build like this usually runs, not a final timeline; your dates are agreed in the proposal.

Phase 02

Week 1-2

### Drawing the phone version of each page

We sketch the smallest screen first for the pages that carry your enquiries, and agree what earns its place. Everything scales up from there, so nothing gets hidden.

Phase 03

Week 2-3

### Agreeing where each layout rearranges

We write down how every section behaves from a small phone through tablet sizes to a wide monitor, and you sign it off. The build follows that document, not a judgment call.

Phase 04

Week 3-6

### Building the pages and the touch rules

We build flexible layouts, load images at the size the screen needs and size the controls for taps. Every width gets checked against what you signed off rather than against a hunch.

Phase 05

Week 6-7

### Running the site on real hardware

Real phones, tablets and browsers, in our hands, template by template rather than all at the end. Faults get fixed while the layout is still open, not after launch.

Phase 06

Week 7+

### Launching, then reading the first month

We launch with phone and desktop enquiries tracked separately, then come back at thirty days with what those numbers say and which pages still lose people.

Get started •

• THE DEMAND YOU CAPTURE

### The people who call us have already seen the problem.

Most people looking for responsive web design services already have the evidence: mobile traffic that does not become inquiries, or a customer who said the form would not submit. They do not need the technique explained; they need someone to open the site on a phone and fix what is broken.

•

Layout widths chosen from your content, not from a device list

•

Tap targets and menus specified before the build starts

•

Checked on an ordinary mid-range phone

• AN ASSET YOU OWN

### One site to update instead of two.

The old fix for mobile was a second website on its own address, with its own content and its own upkeep. One responsive site keeps the page, copy and search equity together, so there is only one version to edit.

•

One address per page, so search equity is not split

•

Layouts that survive the next screen size without a patch

•

The layout rules handed over in writing

> “I can't say enough good things about Matt Suffoletto and the team at Suff Digital. I've worked with Matt for years, and his knowledge, expertise, and professionalism are second to none. He truly understands SEO, website management, and digital marketing at a level that delivers real results. Matt helped me get my DJ business ranked on the first page and even the number one spot on Google in an industry with thousands of competing DJs. Those results had a tremendous impact on my business. Most recently, on Memorial Day, my website came under attack from internet hackers. I sent Matt an email expecting a delayed response because of the holiday, but he replied almost immediately, identified the problem, took action, and resolved the issue before it could cause further damage. If you're looking for a digital marketing and web services company that delivers results and stands behind its clients, I highly recommend Suff Digital.”

Scott KingBusiness Owner

• Responsive design deliverables

## Responsive Web Design Deliverables

It is all written into the proposal before work starts, and it is yours to keep. A mobile website design project hands over two groups of work.

Month One

Planning and design

✓ Where your visitors actually are — Your real split of phone, tablet and desktop traffic, and where each one leaves.

✓ Phone layouts for the pages that earn you money — Sketches drawn smallest screen first, so what matters is decided before styling.

✓ The layout rules, written down — How every section behaves, from a small phone to a wide monitor.

✓ The tap and menu specification — Target sizes, spacing and the phone menu pattern, written for the build.

Months 2-3

Build and handover

✓ The build itself — Flexible layouts that hold from phone to widescreen, checked against the agreed rules.

✓ The device test report — What we found on real devices, with the fixes already applied.

✓ Readable and tappable at every size — Text sizes, contrast and keyboard focus verified across devices.

• Frequently asked questions

## Common Questions

One website whose layout rearranges itself to fit whatever screen opens it, rather than a fixed design that gets shrunk down. The quick way to tell is to open a page on your phone. If you have to pinch and zoom to read it, or the buttons sit on top of each other, the layout is not responding to the screen. It is only being made smaller.

The quick way to tell is to open a page on your phone. If you have to pinch and zoom to read it, or the buttons sit on top of each other, the layout is not responding to the screen. It is only being made smaller."

Four things set where yours falls in that range: how many page templates need layouts, whether we retrofit or build fresh, how tangled the current site is, and whether you want enquiry tracking. No responsive web design agency can be more precise than that without opening your site, so we look first and then put a fixed price in writing before work starts."
