72.1% of spa websites let clients book online, but only 40.8% have a tap-to-call link, so 59% of spas give the client who wants to ask a question first no quick way to call.
Analysis of 390 US spa websites · spa websites listed on Google Business Profiles, September 2026
Key Findings
- 1.72.1% of spa websites let clients book online through a booking tool or a Book Now button, so online booking is the standard in the spa business.
- 2.59% of spa websites have no tap-to-call link, a phone number that dials when tapped on a mobile phone; 40.8% have one.
- 3.82.2% of spa websites built on Wix offer online booking, against 63.7% of spa websites built on WordPress.
- 4.15.9% of spa websites have a contact form with three or more fields, and 4.4% run a live chat widget.
- 5.9.5% of spa websites offer none of the four direct routes to the spa: online booking, tap-to-call, a contact form or live chat.
Summary
Someone wants to book a couples massage as a birthday surprise. They have questions: is there a room for two, can they add a facial, is there a gift card option. They open the spa's website on their phone, find a Book Now button that leads to a menu of treatments and time slots, and no phone number they can tap to ask.
Online booking fits spas well, because most treatments have a set length and a set price. But spa services are also personal and often bought as gifts or for two people, and some clients want to talk to someone before they commit. When the only route is the booking tool, those clients have to copy a number by hand or leave.
72.1% of spa websites take bookings online, while 59% have no tap-to-call link. Contact forms and live chat are rare, so for most spas the booking tool is the only fast way in.
What we measured
In September 2026 we checked the websites of 390 US spas listed on Google Business Profiles, looking at each homepage and up to two linked pages. On every site we recorded whether a visitor could book online, call with one tap, fill in a contact form or start a live chat, whether the site showed reviews or testimonials, and which platform it was built on. We measured online booking on the 351 sites not built on Squarespace.
A site offers online booking when it uses a booking tool such as Mindbody, Vagaro or Booksy, or shows a Book Now, Book Online, Schedule Online or Request an Appointment button or link. A tap-to-call link is a phone number coded so that tapping it on a phone starts the call. A contact form counts when it has three or more fields to fill in, which leaves out search bars and newsletter boxes.
Most spa websites have no tap-to-call link
40.8% of spa websites have a tap-to-call link, well below the 72.1% that take online bookings. Only 12.8% of spa websites offer a phone link without online booking, so the phone has become the secondary route. For a spa, that is a choice with a cost: a client who wants to ask about a treatment, a package or a gift card has no quick way to do it from a phone.

The other routes are thin. 15.9% of spa websites have a contact form with three or more fields and 4.4% run live chat. 33.1% show reviews or testimonials. At the far end, 9.5% of spa websites offer none of the four direct routes: no booking, no tap-to-call link, no contact form and no chat.
Nearly three in four spa websites take bookings online
72.1% of spa websites let clients book online, the norm rather than a way to stand out. Spa booking tools show every treatment with its length and price, let the client pick a therapist and a time, and can take a deposit to cut no-shows. For a client who already knows what they want, that is faster than any call.
Because most spas already offer it, online booking alone no longer sets a spa apart. What separates spas now is how easy the booking is to find on every page, how few steps it takes, and whether a client with a question can get an answer before they book.
Spa websites on Wix lead on online booking
The website platform shapes how booking is set up. 82.2% of spa websites built on Wix offer online booking, against 73% of spa websites on all other platforms and 63.7% on WordPress. Here "all other platforms" means every spa website not built on Squarespace, Wix or WordPress, including custom-built sites. Wix includes a booking feature that an owner can switch on in the site editor, while a WordPress site needs a plugin or a link to an outside booking tool.

Even on WordPress, nearly two in three spa websites take bookings online, so the platform does not stop a spa from adding it. It changes how much setup it takes.
What this means for spa owners
Keep online booking, and make it one tap from every page with a Book Now button in the header. Then add what most spa websites leave out: a tappable phone number next to that button, so the client with a question about a couples room, a package or a gift card can call in one tap instead of leaving.
Answer the common questions on the page as well. Treatment lengths, prices, what to wear, cancellation rules and gift card options can all sit on the treatment pages, so fewer clients need to call at all. A short contact form for group bookings and events covers the requests a standard booking tool does not handle.
Finally, check your booking flow on a phone the way a new client would, from the homepage to a confirmed appointment. Our conversion optimization services test each step so fewer clients drop out between choosing a treatment and paying for it.
