    Summary

A plastic surgeon plans a Google Ads campaign for breast augmentation and liposuction, procedures that bring a practice high fees. Expecting prices like those of lawyers or insurers, the surgeon opens the keyword tool and finds "plastic surgery clinic" at $11.48 a click and "arm liposuction" at $11.58.

Cost per click, or CPC, is what an advertiser pays each time someone clicks its ad, whether or not that person books a consultation. It decides how many prospective patients a monthly budget reaches. For a plastic surgery practice, where one patient is worth a great deal, low click prices mean paid search can reach many more people than the value of each case would suggest.

A click on a plastic surgery keyword costs $6.94 on average, 36% below the $10.82 average across 18,477 keywords in 23 industries. The median is $7.00, prices are tightly packed, and no plastic surgery keyword reaches $20 a click.

    What we measured

In September 2026 we collected Google Ads Keyword Planner prices for plastic surgery keywords, each searched at least 2,900 times a month in the US. We kept the 102 keywords that match core plastic surgery terms and have a price above zero. For those we calculated the average, median and spread of cost per click and compared them with 18,477 keywords across 23 industries. We also collected state-level prices for the 25 largest states and Microsoft Ads prices for the 27 keywords priced on both platforms.

Cost per click is Google's estimate of the average price an advertiser pays for one click on an ad shown for that search. The median is the middle keyword: half cost less, half cost more. The volume-weighted average counts each keyword by how often it is searched. Each state is compared with the national price of the same keywords, so its percentage shows how much more or less a local practice pays for identical searches.

Plastic surgery clicks cost less than the cross-industry average

    $6.94
is the average cost of a click on a plastic surgery Google Ads keyword.

Plastic surgery sits 15th of 23 industries by average cost per click. The median keyword costs $7.00, almost exactly the average, and the middle half of keywords cost between $4.75 and $9.22. More than half, 54%, fall in the $5 to $10 band. Weighted by how often each keyword is searched, the average is $7.46, and "plastic surgery" itself, the biggest keyword at 60,500 searches a month, costs $10.87.

Many plastic surgery searches are research: people comparing procedures, looking at results and reading about recovery long before they book. Practices bid less for these early-stage searches than law firms or insurers bid for someone ready to sign or buy, which keeps the whole industry's prices low.

No plastic surgery keyword costs more than $20

The top of the list is flat. The single most expensive search, at $17.30 a click, is a local practice's name. Among procedure searches, "plastic surgeons for breast implants" leads at $16.43, followed by "submental liposuction" at $13.47 and "fat grafting" at $13.10. The most expensive 10% of plastic surgery keywords cost $12.29 or more, and 18% cost $10 or more.

New York pays the biggest premium for plastic surgery clicks

Location changes the price of the same search. Among the 25 largest states, New York pays the biggest premium for plastic surgery clicks: $8.64 on average, 18% above the national price of the same keywords. Colorado follows at $8.73 (15% above) and California at $8.31 (11% above). Each state is compared with the national price of the keywords priced there, which is why Colorado's slightly higher average is a smaller premium. Missouri has the biggest discount at $4.79, 37% below.

For the 27 plastic surgery keywords priced on both platforms, a Microsoft Ads click costs $2.51 on average against $8.03 on Google Ads, 69% less. What this means for plastic surgery practices

Cheap clicks are a chance to test. With a median of $7.00 a click, a practice can learn which procedures and which cities bring consultations without a large budget. Run separate campaigns for your main procedures so each gets its own ads, landing page and results.

Build a path for researchers, because many of these searches come long before a booking. Before-and-after galleries, pricing guides and a simple consultation form give early-stage visitors a reason to stay in touch, and remarketing can bring them back when they are ready. Plan for the January peak and test Microsoft Ads, where the same searches cost about a third as much. A google ads agency such as Suff Digital sets up procedure-level campaigns and tracks each one to booked consultations.
