- 2.75.1% of plumber websites have a tap-to-call link, a phone number that dials when tapped on a mobile phone.

Summary
A homeowner notices the water heater is taking forever to warm up. It is not an emergency, so on Sunday evening she looks for a plumber to come out this week. The first website has a phone number and opening hours that start Monday at 8 am. The second has a Book Now button with slots for Tuesday. She books Tuesday and never calls the first company.
Online booking lets a customer pick a time without a phone call, at any hour. For a plumbing company, emergencies will always come by phone, but a large share of the work is routine: drain cleaning, water heater service, fixture installs and estimates. Customers who research those jobs in the evening or at the weekend are ready to commit, and a website that only takes calls during office hours asks them to wait.
Most plumbers still work that way. 72% of plumber websites offer no way to book online, and 28% do. The phone is the default: 75.1% of plumber websites have a tap-to-call link, and 47.6% offer tap-to-call with no online booking at all.
What we measured
In September 2026 we checked the websites of 502 US plumbers listed on Google Business Profiles, looking at each homepage and up to two linked pages. On every site we recorded whether a visitor could book online, call with one tap, fill in a contact form or start a live chat, whether the site showed reviews or testimonials, and which platform it was built on. We measured online booking on the 475 sites not built on Squarespace.
A site offers online booking when it uses a scheduling tool, such as Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, Jobber or Calendly, or shows a Book Now, Book Online, Schedule Online or Request an Appointment button or link. A tap-to-call link is a phone number coded so that tapping it on a phone starts the call. A contact form counts when it has three or more fields to fill in, which leaves out search bars and newsletter boxes.
Seven in ten plumber websites take no bookings online
The other 72% ask customers to call, send a form or wait. That fits how many plumbing companies have always run, with a dispatcher on the phone scheduling jobs around emergencies. But field service software such as Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan and Jobber, which plumbing companies use to dispatch technicians and send invoices, includes online booking that can be switched on and linked from the website.
Booking rates differ widely by website platform. 38.2% of plumber websites built on WordPress offer online booking and 33.3% of those built on Wix, against 16.6% of those on other or unidentified platforms.

Plumbers send customers to the phone
75.1% of plumber websites have a tap-to-call link, far more than take bookings online, and 47.6% offer tap-to-call but no booking at all. The combination that serves every customer is both: call for an emergency, book online for everything else.

Contact forms are common: 45.8% of plumber websites have one with three or more fields, the usual "request a quote" form. Live chat is rare at 5%. At the far end, 14.5% of plumber websites offer none of the four direct routes: no booking, no tap-to-call link, no contact form and no chat, so a customer ready to hire has to find the number and dial it by hand.
Half of plumber websites show no reviews
51.4% of plumber websites show reviews or testimonials, so 48.6% give a visitor no proof from past customers at all. Reviews matter more for a plumber than for most businesses, because the customer is letting a stranger into the house and often paying before seeing the result.
Reviews and online booking answer the two questions a homeowner asks before booking: can I trust them, and when can they come? A website that shows reviews next to a Book Now button answers both on the same screen.
What this means for plumbing companies
If your website takes no bookings online, start with the routine jobs: drain cleaning, water heater service, fixture installs and estimates. Keep emergencies on the phone, with the number tappable at the top of every page. If you already use field service software, check whether its online booking feature is switched on, then put a clear Book Now button in the header and on your main service pages.
If you already take bookings online, make sure customers can also call with one tap: a homeowner with a leak will not wait for a time slot. Add your best reviews next to both buttons, so the proof sits beside the decision.
A website that converts is also the best destination for the visitors search brings in. Suff Digital's plumber seo programs pair local search visibility with websites that let customers call or book in one tap.
