Google AI Overviews

    AI Overview Optimization

AI Overview work that defends the clicks your existing positions used to earn.

Your positions have not moved and your clicks have. Google now writes an answer above the results. It quotes a handful of pages and settles the question before anyone scrolls. We map which of your queries actually trigger one, and find who gets quoted in your place. Then we rebuild those pages, so the answer, the evidence and the person behind it are all in view.

What Our AI Overview Optimization Services Include

Six pieces of work, ordered by what pays soonest.

    (06)

Finding where the box actually appears

We check your keyword list one query at a time. That means whether an Overview appears, who is quoted in it today and how the box is worded. The work then goes where the box is, and nowhere else.

A real person's name on the page

Real bylines, credentials and the specifics of work your team has actually done. Written into the pages themselves rather than parked in an author box nobody reads.

Sections that answer on their own

We restructure the target pages so each section answers its question completely on its own. The qualifier sits beside the claim instead of three screens further down.

    Getting the featured snippet back

Direct answers put into the format the query already rewards. It pays on its own, and it shares most of its work with the Overview, so it is the cheapest thing to do first.

Pages for the questions that draw a box

Pages written for the question forms that draw an Overview in your category. One page is made responsible for each, rather than a cluster half-covering all of them.

Schema on the pages in scope

FAQ, Article, HowTo and Organization schema written and validated on the pages in scope, so Google reads the answer the way you wrote it.

    See our process
    The problem

Where AI Overviews are costing you clicks

These are the symptoms clients bring us. In almost every case the rankings held and the clicks quietly went somewhere else.

    Diagnose my site
    01

You rank and lose the click anyway

Search Console shows the position holding and the clicks falling. Google answers the query in a box above your listing, so the reader has what they came for before your result is on screen. Internally this reads as an SEO failure and gets the budget cut, when what changed is the shape of the results page. We measure the two cases apart, so the report says what actually happened.

    02

    Nobody's name on the page

Your pages carry no byline, no credentials and nothing showing the writer has done the thing they are describing. Google's raters are told to look for exactly that, and the systems that assemble an Overview lean toward sources where it is visible. We put real authors on the pages, with the qualifications, the years and the work that back them up.

    03

    Snippets gone, overview too

The featured snippets you used to hold have thinned out, and the same queries now show an Overview quoting somebody else. The two draw on similar things: a direct answer, a clean format, a page that gets to the point. Losing one is usually a sign of why you are not in the other. So snippet recovery is where we start rather than where we finish.

    04

Broad where the answer needs depth

Your page covers the topic and never commits to anything. It lists considerations, gives ranges and leaves the actual answer to the reader. Google is pulling from several sources at once, so it reaches for the one that states a position and shows why. We rewrite those pages to answer the question outright and then defend the answer.

    05

One passage gets quoted, not the page

An Overview lifts a specific block of text rather than your whole article. On most sites there is no block that survives being taken out on its own. The sentence relies on the paragraph above it, and the qualifier sits three screens down. We restructure the target pages so each answer is complete inside its own section.

    06

No read on which queries trigger one

Nobody on your team knows which of your queries show an Overview and which do not. So effort gets spread evenly across a keyword set where the opportunity is not. Overviews cluster on some intents and barely appear on others. We check your list query by query and spend the budget where the box actually shows up.

    Methodology

    Our AI Overview Optimization Process

    (06)
    Phase 01
    Phase 1 • Weeks 1-2

Which queries show a box today

We run your keyword list and record which queries return an Overview. Then which pages Google quotes inside each one, and how your own position and click-through sit on both groups. You get the list split into queries worth this work and queries that should be handled as ordinary rankings. Nothing on the site changes yet.

    Phase 02
    Phase 2 • Weeks 3-4

Reading your pages like a rater

We read your target pages the way a quality rater is told to. Who wrote this, what qualifies them, where the claims come from and whether anything on the page shows first-hand experience. The output names the gap on each page rather than scoring the site, because a score does not tell anyone what to write.

    Phase 03
    Phase 3 • Weeks 5-8

What each page has to say, and where

Each page in scope gets a specification. The question each section has to answer, the format the current result already rewards, then where the qualifier sits. Plus what depth is missing against the pages Google quotes today. Your writers can work from it without us in the room.

    Phase 04
    Phase 4 • Weeks 9-12

    Authors, sources and standards

We put named authors on the pages with credentials anyone can check, and cite the sources behind the claims. Then the editorial standard you work to, and the first-hand experience your team has. This is the phase that needs your people, so we book the interviews early.

    Phase 05
    Phase 5 • Weeks 13-16

    Target page rebuilds

The pages get rewritten against the specs: answer first, format matched, qualifier beside the claim, markup validated. You receive each page before and after, with a note of what changed and why. Where a page turns out to be answering two questions, we split it and map the redirect.

    Phase 06
    Phase 6 • Ongoing

Weekly checks on who is quoted

We re-check the tracked queries on a schedule. Whether the box still appears, who it quotes now, how clicks moved on the cited set against the uncited one. Google changes when and where Overviews show, so the trigger list is re-run rather than assumed to hold from the audit.

    Get started
Demand that never reaches a click

The answer now sits above the results you ranked in.

When a summary appears at the top of the page, it answers the question and names a few sources. If you are not one of them, ranking below it is worth less than it used to be. Being quoted depends on ranking first, then on stating the answer plainly enough that a model can lift it.

The queries in your set that actually trigger a summary, checked rather than assumed
Answers written to be extractable, not buried nine paragraphs down
Where you are and are not cited, tracked over weeks
    The same work pays twice

You cannot be quoted from page two.

These summaries draw from the same index as ordinary results, so nothing here replaces the ranking work: it sits on top of it. Queries where you already rank in the first few positions are the ones worth formatting for, and queries where you do not are a ranking job first. Doing it in that order is what stops the effort being wasted.

Effort aimed at the queries where a citation is actually possible

He truly understands SEO, website management, and digital marketing at a level that delivers real results. I sent Matt an email expecting a delayed response because of the holiday, but he replied almost immediately, identified the problem, took action, and resolved the issue before it could cause further damage. AI Overview Optimization Deliverables

Scope in writing before you sign, so there is never a question about what the retainer covers.

    Month One
    Audit
Which queries show an overview — Your keyword list checked one query at a time. That means a split into the queries that return a box and the ones that do not, with the pages Google quotes on each.
What your pages are missing — Page by page: who is credited, what backs them up, where the claims come from. And what is missing against the sources Google is quoting today.
Where one fix pays twice — Where you hold or have lost a featured snippet, set against where the Overview appears. So the queries that pay twice for a single piece of work stand out.
What Google currently lifts from you — The blocks Google takes from your target pages today, and what has to change in the structure before a section can stand on its own.
    Months 2-3
    Optimization
Named authors, sources and standards — Author pages, credentials, source citations and an editorial standard written down, with the first-hand experience your team has recorded on the pages it belongs to.
What each section has to answer — Per page, the question each section answers and the format the result already rewards. Then where the qualifier has to sit for the block to survive on its own.
Which questions to answer next — The question forms that draw an Overview in your category, in the order worth answering them, with one page made responsible for each.
Schema for the pages in scope — FAQ, Article, HowTo and Organization schema written for the pages in scope. Validated one template at a time, rather than pushed site-wide and hoped for.
    Ongoing
    Tracking
Whether the box still shows, weekly — Whether the box still appears on each tracked query, who it quotes now and what moved since the last run. Reported in the same shape every cycle.
A check that the authors are still there — A standing check that the authors, credentials, sources and editorial standards are still on the pages after somebody edits the content later.
What the box cost you in clicks — How click-through moved on the queries that return a box against the queries that do not. Which is the only way to separate the box from everything else happening.
Monthly AI Overview report — What moved, what we changed to move it, which pages are still outside the box and what the next round of work is.

    Compare AI Overview Optimization Services

We work the queries that show a box and skip the rest, because overviews turn up constantly on some intents and almost never on others, so your list gets checked query by query before anyone starts writing. Experience is the part of the quality bar nobody documents: most sites can show expertise on paper and nothing at all about having done the work, so the specifics go on the page, meaning who performed it, when, on what, and what came of it. And snippet formatting is the cheap half, so it comes before the slower authority work rather than after it.

    Frequently asked questions

    Common Questions

An AI Overview is the answer Google writes at the top of the results page for many queries, above the ordinary listings. It draws on several web pages at once and names the sources behind it. Because it occupies the most valuable position on the page, it changes how many people reach the organic results. On some queries it decides whether they scroll at all.
